  Tuesday, 28 Jul 2015

The FEMAP Foundation is pleased to announce Carla Canales and Cynthia Canales as the 2015 Co-Chairs for: La Vie en Rose, the 10th Annual Friends of FEMAP International Gala (a Paso Del Norte Challenge Fund Event) to take place on Friday, October 2, 2015.

Canales and Canales are sisters as well as partners at the law firm Canales & Canales, P.C.

Carla Canales has a law degree from DePaul University College of Law (Chicago, IL.) and Cynthia Canales’ law degree is from Thomas Jefferson School of Law (San Diego, CA.).

Cynthia Canales was born in Juarez and Carla Canales in El Paso, and despite residing in El Paso both consider the border region their home since they grew up bi-nationally between Cd. Juarez and El Paso.

Cynthia Canales and Carla Canales have volunteered in the Gala Committee, helping coordinate various aspects of the event. This year they agreed to Co-Chair the Gala. As sisters and law partners, they will bring this close relationship and their work ethic to ensure a successful, enjoyable event.

“We truly believe in FEMAP’s mission and the work rendered through their programs and services. My family has always supported this organization, and we inherited and developed that empathy” states Carla Canales.

The Friends of FEMAP International volunteer group was started in the 1990s. The original group helped raise funds to expand and buy medical equipment for Hospital de la Familia. Today’s Friends hold various functions within the organization, from coordinating the fundraiser gala, to assisting with administrative projects, event planning and publicity.

“The FEMAP Foundation continues to advocate for stronger relationships in the U.S. - Mexico border region, Friends of FEMAP International, is one example where synergies are put together to embrace and support the hard work that FEMAP and the Foundation continue to excel” states Cynthia Canales.
